Recently I was invited to visit the King Family Vineyard in Crozet, Virginia to experience a luxury event courtesy of Lexus. I was hosted at the event. Since I have been on several Charlottesville vineyard tours this was an easy yes for me.
The stars of the show were the Lexus LS sedan and Lexus LX SUV. I was impressed by the comfort and luxury features of the two vehicles.
No, we didn’t get to drive them. There was a little bit of wine, and no driving at all.
And that’s the beauty of the partnership between Lexus of Richmond and Cville Tours. You can experience the luxury of Lexus while being chauffeured in a new 2019 Lexus LS or LX on one of three culinary tours.
Some lovely travel writers, influencers, and me sipped spritzers, did a wine tasting, sampled some delicious hors d’oeuvres, and learned about the partnership between Lexus of Richmond and Cville Tours.
Wine Tasting at King Family Vineyards
The venue for our event was King Family Vineyard in Crozet (it rhymes with rose’.)
The vineyard was so easy to find. It’s right off Interstate 95 near Charlottesville, but it feels so secluded. The view is all fields you can ride a horse through and low, green hills wreathed in mist. It was magical.
We had a tasting of some of King Family Vineyard’s most popular wines, including a crisp Chardonnay and my favorite, Meritage. Make sure to say it like “heritage” and not in a fancy, French way like I did.
Taste of Luxury Tours
The Lexus and Cville Tours are running from May through November. You can choose among three tours focused on amazing culinary experiences.
In the Behind the Scenes Vineyard Tour you can explore three Charlottesville-area wineries guided by a wine expert where you’ll learn everything about the winemaking technique–tastings included!
If you select the Vineyard Horseback Riding with VIP Wine Tasting Tour, you’ll go on a 90-minute horseback ride (the horses looked friendly) at one vineyard and a tasting of specially selected wines.
For the Gearhart Chocolate Experience, you’ll be guided through a one-hour tasting via Facetime with chocolatier Tim Gearhart. You’ll also learn how to dip chocolate and roll truffles. I’m not sure of the wine situation for that one, but with literally a hundred vineyards in the area you can’t swing a truffle without being able to find wine.
Any of these tours would be an amazing fun getaway for friends, or a romantic trip with your partner.
