Eye Makeup Tutorial for Over 50

Makeup For Women over 50

If you are a woman over 50, you will find your makeup needs have changed since your 20s and 30s. Anything with glitter or shimmer now settles into places you don’t want them to settle. Eyelid skin starts to soften and become crepe-like. Lids droop and give the eyes a more hooded appearance.

The good news is we can still look great with our everyday makeup in our 40s and 50s and beyond. A few new helpful techniques and better quality makeup can go a long way to a light, fresh face.

I particularly like the Urban Decay brand of cosmetics, especially their makeup for eyes. The Urban Decay eye shadow palettes is my makeup bag essential. I use it to shadow, highlight, and even line my eyes. In a pinch, this, mascara, and a swipe of something on my lips and I am good to go out the door.

Eye Makeup Tutorial for Women over 50

I love the beauty tutorials from Angie at Hot & Flashy. Here is her easy makeup tutorial for an everyday eye look. It’s perfect for women in midlife because she takes into account any crepe-like skin around the eye, and how eyes get more deep set or hooded with age.

Starting with a small amount of eyes hadow primer to help give shadow in place and to reduce crepe-iness. Add three neutral shadows applied to give eyes maximum definition and openness.

When I was younger my lashes were thick and long enough to not require mascara. Now I find a great mascara like Urban Decay Perversion or DiorShow can make a huge difference. I haven’t found a drugstore mascara that does as well for me, despite trying lots of brands.

Great tips! Plus I'm really just glad that women in our age group now have a lot more choices, from varying price points, when it comes to cosmetics. :-)
