12 Makeup Products for 50+ Women

Andrea Tabler wears 50+ well, and shares her favorite makeup for women over fifty to help us all feel a little more beautiful and confident. Perfect for any boomer, whether she’s VIB Rouge at Sephora or not. Read on for more about anti-aging makeup for mature skin.

Having run out of several items in my makeup kit, I decided it’s about time to make sure I’m using the right products for my 50+ face.

So I headed to Sephora and found their top makeup expert to give me a “soft, day-look” makeover, focusing on products that would specifically benefit mature skin.

{Note: I’m cringing at posting my before picture. First, my handy iPhone doesn’t take the best pics, so pardon the bad photography. Then there’s this… Maybe it’s my fading eyesight, but I never see THIS many lines and creases when I look in the mirror. Wish there were an easy makeup tip for that! Oh well, laugh lines show that I smile a lot!}

12 Makeup Products for Mature Skin: 50+ Women

Isabel at Sephora on El Paseo in Palm Desert was my makeup artist for the morning. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Isabel started by doing a color IQ on my face. I had not heard of this before! This little device calculates your coloring and then pulls up an array of products that work best for your coloring.

Armed with the knowledge she needed regarding my color IQ, Isabel gathered the products she recommends for the 50+ woman. Some were brands I already use, and others I was unfamiliar with. Here’s what she selected for me. Links are affiliate links. Thanks for your support!

12 Makeup Products for 50+ Women

1. Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream
Isabel selected this cream because of its anti-aging ingredients. I’m all for that. Plus, it smells AMAZING! Cucumber. Need I say more? This formula contains star fruit extract, but it doesn’t contain parabens, sulfates, or phthalates.

2. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
This product is hydrating and preps mature skin with a healthy glow and creates the perfect canvas for makeup. I’ve been using foundation primer for the past year. I love it because my concealer and foundation literally glide on to my face after I’ve used it.

3. bareMinerals bareSkin
I’ve been using this foundation for a few months and really like it. It’s full of vitamins, is very light, and has SPF 20 — all perfect for mature skin. Bareskin also is a foundation and skincare serum all in one.

4. bareMinerals bareSkin Perfecting Face Brush
I didn’t buy this yesterday, but I’m completely sold on it. It has a large flat brush head with a circular fluid reservoir for the makeup. So cool.

5. Giorgio Armani High Precious Retouch Concealer
This concealer has Vitamin E and moisturizers to pamper the delicate eye area. NOTE: Isabel put the concealer on AFTER the foundation. The foundation, if applied on top, covers the effects of the concealer. Makes sense to me!

6. NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder
This is cool because it has no color at all. It prolongs and sets the makeup beautifully. This powder makes fine lines, wrinkles and pores to optically fade as the skin is visibly smoothed.

7. Too Faced Beach Bunny Bronzer
I adore the colors in this! This bronzer perks up washed-out looking skin with a nice glow. I left Sephora with this yesterday!

8. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
This product is perfect for the 50+ girl because it is anti-aging and helps keep your eye shadow crease-free all day. I’ve been using this for a few months, and I have to admit, I really like it enough to add the extra step to my makeup regime.

9. Urban Decay Naked2 Pallete
Okay. Isabel didn’t pick this one because of any mature-skin rationale. She used it because I already own it and wanted to see what she did with it. I have to tell you, this is THE BEST eyeshadow pallete I’ve ever had. Isabel used it for my eyeshadow, and also for under-eye liner. Here’s a new tip… she used a smudge brush under the eye. It left a bigger line than I’m used to, but it was so soft! I loved it.

10. Christian Dior Diorshow Maximizing Lash Plumping Serum
I had never heard of such a thing and was a bit skeptical. But it was so amazing that I bought it! Somehow it actually makes your lashes look longer once mascara is applied. Plus, mascara just glides on when applied over this.

11. Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightening Mascara
This stuff really does brighten your eyes because of its blue pigmentation. I’ve used it for a few months and really like it.

12. Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Petal
In addition to providing a nice, soft color, this lip treatment moisturizes, smoothes and protects with SPF 15.

Here’s the “after” picture. I think she did a nice job at creating a very natural daytime look.
