Going In Style Movie Opens April 2017
I’m working with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring you this post. I was paid to write it and provided with a gift card to give away, though all opinions are my own.
I’m a big movie fan, especially of high-quality drama or comedy films starring top actors. I mean, who isn’t? This month sees the release of Going In Style, a new comedy movie starring Oscar-winners Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin.
The actors’ characters team up as lifelong buddies Willie, Joe, and Al, who decide to buck retirement and step off the straight-and-narrow for the first time in their lives when their pension fund becomes a corporate casualty.
Going In Style Remake of 70s Original
The premise for the film reminded me of the great old-guy-buddy comedies starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. In fact, I thought I remembered a film quite like that. So, when I googled “old guy bank robbery movie” and the original 1979 version of Going In Style popped up.
The original version of Going In Style starred George Burns, Art Carney, and Lee Strasberg. In the original movie, the three retirees decide to rob a bank out of boredom. In the new version, the heist is a righteous one due to the company they worked for eliminating the men’s pensions.
Directed By Zach Braff
Zach Braff will always be JD from the tv show Scrubs for me. Even though I know he’s a professional director of good movies like Garden State, I was surprised to see him directing this movie. I’m interested to see how he uses this excellent cast and also spins the plot of the original movie.
In addition to Oscar-winners Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”), Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules,” “Hannah and Her Sisters”) and Alan Arkin (“Little Miss Sunshine”), Going In Style features a strong supporting cast, including Ann-Margret, Joey King, Matt Dillon, and Christopher Lloyd.
