Book Review: Feisty After 45, Edited by Elaine Ambrose

Book Review: Feisty After 45Back in April I had the opportunity to connect in person with the lovely Elaine Ambrose. We met at BAM in Las Vegas, and it was such a pleasure. Elaine gave out copies of her latest book to the attendees. I’m going to take a few moments here to introduce you to Feisty After 45. (Affiliate link.)

One of the things you’ll love about this book is that it’s made up of pieces written by women just like you. They’re writers, sure, bloggers, many, but they’re women who have LIVED. And who are inspired to keep living – enjoying every moment!

These women laugh and cry, and will make you laugh and cry right along with them. You’ll hear their voices resonating long after you turn the final page. You’ll nod your head in understanding. From their stories about aging, parenting and grandparenting, to their tales of sensual adventures, you may find yourself in need of your very own pair of Depends on standby as you read the whole thing.

I truly enjoyed that this book was broken into different sections. From humor to inspiration, you’ll find at least one story that truly moves you.

Some of my favorite pieces were:

Love And Buttons, by Gretchen Mullins – a tale from Mullins of almost losing her husband, and the ways she can take care of him now.

I Am Not Invisible, by Carol A. Cassara – the reminder that we’re not invisible, not any of us.

Twelve Good Things About Being A Grandparent, by Marcia Kester Doyle – I’m not remotely close to being a grandparent just yet, but I really enjoyed this piece.

Aging Gracefully? Oh, Hell No! by Linda Wolff – I think the title says it all for this one.

And my absolute favorite? The way Elaine wrapped up the entire book with a final piece titled, Now Is The Best Time Of Your Life. Because it is.

So, if you’re a midlife woman looking for a read that you can truly relate to – a read you can dive into and find yourself feeling understood, find yourself nodding your head – this is the book for you.

Thanks, Andrea, for the positive review. Maybe we should do a sequel and include more feisty women!
