Recently, a friend leaned over her tea glass, and asked this question as if she was seeking out a deep dark secret, “Confess, what is your favorite garment to wear? Above anything else.” She appeared to be ready to tell the world it is my Wal-Mart Night Shirt, and was poised as if breaking news was about to occur. I laughed at her and boldly answered, “Jeans, of course. I don’t think it’s a deep dark secret!” I realize around this town I am most often seen wearing some version of a denim outfit. So, her next statement was a suggestion. To blog about some of my favorite spring-jean-combinations, of course.
Dark denim is my favorite. I can wear it for most situations, including professional. It can be dressed up or down with success. I prefer dark denim for its slimming, clean, and classic style. My next two favorites are white and black denim. I prefer all of my jeans without holes or any distressing. Now, here are some of my go-to combos:
DARK DENIM
- Pointed toe flat; silk jersey black tee; black and white tweed jacket with lots of long pearl strands (mine are costume)
- Classic, black boyfriend jacket; tee (this can be a simple white jersey or a fun message tee); and oxfords
- Long knit neutral cardigan; colorful blouse (often red, blue, or maybe a subtle print); and a gold wedge sandal
WHITE DENIM
- A gold mule; coral flowy v-neck top; gold statement necklace; a blue denim jacket
- Black tunic, long silver necklace and silver sandals
- Red jacket; black tee, and black sandals
BLACK DENIM
- Sleeveless sequined black top, white jacket, simple bracelet, black sandal
- Taupe, knit, form fit jacket; white v-neck tee; bronze flats
- Red jacket and black tank top; long white necklace; black ballet flats
These are my favorites. Of course, cooler weather brings out sweater and boots, but the jeans remain the same. I suppose my love of jeans hails from the traditions of a Texas girl, born and bred.
I hope this will inspire your own looks with jeans. Do you have any favorites you would like to share with us? Remember to always wear them with confidence!
See you next week!

Hi Betsy, Thanks for asking. I like the Marilyn Jean by Not Your Daughter's Jeans; the Dark Metro Denim Legging by Soft Surroundings (fits more like a jean than a legging and they have this in a bootcut style as well); the INC Jeans at Macy's. I have heard Chico's is excellent and I need to try these jeans...will let you know!

I never loved jeans that much. Now I have more than I had in my hole life. But I never wear dark jeans, we have a white couch!! :-)

I practically live in my jeans! I even wear them to church sometimes. Like you, I prefer a dark wash and definitely no holes!
How do you keep your black jeans from fading? I wash mine in cold water and hang them to dry, but they always end up looking faded.

i wear mine to church often, Elaine...more so in colder weather. I wash mine in Woolite Dark and hang them to dry...it works well. I use the Woolite Dark on all of my good dark clothes! Thanks for your comment.

Skinny jeans, boots, a t-shirt and something hand-knit is my go-to uniform for around town. Of course, most days I am in my other uniform; yoga pants, tank top and a hoodie :-)

I feel like jeans are the saddle shoes of nowadays!! Every woman should have at least one great pair! I find some of my mom's friends don't agree with this however!!! But I feel like society has gotten a tad too casual in our dress---so I like it better when we forgo the jeans & t-shirt & sneakers!! jodie www.jtouchofstyle.com

I agree with you, Jodie. We have become very casual with our dress...that's why I like to dress my denim up and why I like the darker wash in a denim. I rarely wear a tee these days...but I am blogging about one soon which is for a good cause. Thanks for stopping by.
